wessexfmDorchester-based Wessex FM is part of the UKRD group and reaches out to around 123,000 adults across Dorset. Whilst on placement I produced news packages on a daily basis, conducted face to face interviews as well as over the phone interviews and followed my own leads to produce content. Every story required an online version as well to be added to the website.


Dorset Pensions – This story was embargoed until 4th December 2013. I worked on the story alone, developing it with each broadcast.

Less then half of Dorset residents have begun to save for their pensions. Despite having more realistic expectations about retirement income than the rest of Britain, research shows that only 44% of people in Dorset are saving for their retirement. We asked the people of Dorchester whether they’ve started saving.

Sport – Despite not being my forte, I spoke to the managers of the local football teams to get a prematch overview of the weekend games.
